Coca-Cola and England striker Wayne Rooney handed 2,500 fans a first-hand view of the World Cup trophy as the brand’s FIFA World Cup™ Trophy Tour landed in London.
The trophy is making an unprecedented 86,304 mile (138,902km) global tour taking in 83 countries in the lead up to the Finals in South Africa.
Rooney helped to unveil the trophy to 2,500 competition winners amid tight security in central London.
All winners were given the opportunity to have their photo taken with the authentic FIFA World Cup Trophy.
Rooney was joined on stage by the TV and radio host Mark Chapman to discuss his thoughts on the 2010 FIFA World Cup as part of an exclusive question and answer session for competition winners.
The FIFA World Cup Trophy, which can only be touched by previous winners or Heads of State, is in the UK until the weekend before moving on to Paris, France.
The event ended with a set by Midlands band, The Enemy. Guests also enjoyed performances from Kid British and Somali hip-hop artist K’NAAN who played ‘Wavin Flag – Coca-Cola Celebration Mix’ – the African inspired anthem of Coca-Cola’s 2010 FIFA World Cup™ marketing campaign.
