Coca-Cola is using its title sponsorship of the Football League to launch a
major environmental campaign under the banner ‘Talent from Trash’.
The initiative, which will last for 12 weeks, will encourage fans to recycle
more by incentivising them with the promise of cash prizes of up to £18,000 for
local Football League clubs to spend on youth development.
Thirteen football clubs and local authorities will be involved in the
campaign including Nottingham Forest, Southampton, Cardiff City, Swansea,
Norwich City, Coventry City, QPR, Brentford, Accrington Stanley, Huddersfield
Town, Burnley, Swindon Town and Wycombe Wanderers.
Coca-Cola wants to see recycling levels raised by 4% in the targeted
communities involved in the campaign.
The Talent From Trash initiative will include all non-food household waste
and fans and their families are encouraged to participate in the local authority
kerbside collection schemes in their areas or can take their recyclable
materials to council sites and Tesco recycling centres.
A website will give simple information about recycling and encourage fans to
pledge to do so. Participants have the chance of winning a prize from their club
when logging on. There is also a £10,000 prize for the club and £5,000 for an
individual on offer.
