Coke’s Wc Trophy Tour Begins Second Phase

Coca-Cola’s FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour is set to embark on the second phase of its around the world trip after concluding its visit to 50 African nations.

Nearly 200,000 fans across Africa attended the Tour to have their photo taken with the famous trophy at events hosted by Coca-Cola.

The trophy will now begin the second leg of its world tour in India after travelling more than 72,000 km through Africa.

The Trophy Tour was developed through an exclusive partnership between FIFA and World Cup sponsor Coca-Cola. The Coca-Cola Company has had a formal association with FIFA since 1974 and continued with the Trophy Tour after its initial success in 2006.

Coca-Cola will take the trophy to a total of 83 countries, travelling 138,902km overall. The Tour began in Zurich, Switzerland on 21st September.

Somali hip-hop artist K’NAAN has been performing his song ‘Wavin’ Flag’ at the tour events in Africa. His song is the anthem of Coca-Cola’s 2010 World Cup marketing campaign and will feature in all of the company’s television adverts in the build-up to the competition.

The tour will be coming to London on 12th March.
