Following last week’s agreement between Fota – the F1 teams’ collective association – and the sport’s governing body, the FIA, about cost cuts over the next two seasons, there now appears to be further conflict between motor teams and F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone.

Ferrari president and Fota chair Luca di Montezemolo is leading the rant against Ecclestone, claiming that F1is not run in a ‘normal’ fashion, citing race location and revenue dispersion issues.

Currently the sport’s income is split half and half between the commercial rights holders and all the teams, which Montezemolo claims is unlike any other sport. The Fota chair is now insisting another meeting between his association and the FIA to discuss the teams’ earnings.

Ecclestone refuted the claims by revealing how Ferrari earn a larger share of F1’s income than any other team, reportedly revealing that they get about £54m more.
