Continental Tyres has won the Sponsor Impact Award at the Football for Good Awards, organised by Skillshare International and supported by The Professional Footballers’ Association.

Continental Tyres won based on their support of the FA Girls’ Football Festivals throughout 2014/15. This year’s festivals have reached 11,673 five to 16 year olds in 17 different counties. Each festival is visited by FA Women’s Super League players and includes a range of activities and challenges – from refereeing to goalkeeping and agility tests.

The objective for the festivals was to drive female participation in football and the target number over 12 months set at 7,500 but this was exceeded with 8,153 girls taking part.

Peter Robb, marketing communications manager at Continental Tyres, said: “We are thrilled to have received the Sponsor Impact Award at the Football for Good Awards.

“At Continental Tyres, we understand that to have a successful national women’s football team, girls need to start playing and be enjoying the game from a young age, and the FA Girls’ Football Festivals allow them to do that.

“As an organisation that was a founding partner of The FA Women’s Super League, we are committed to growing the game from the grassroots up and to reinforcing our dedication to women’s football.”
