Crabbie’s, the new title sponsor of the Grand National festival, has launched a ‘Capture the Spirit’ competition, calling on horseracing and photography fans to bottle the essence of the event with one amateur snapper set to be named the official ‘Crabbie’s Grand National photographer.’
The winner will receive a pair of VIP tickets to the Crabbie’s Grand National Festival, with access to the grounds for all three days, and a top of the range digital SLR camera. The winner will also receive the money-can’t-buy opportunity for photos they take at the festival to be displayed at the famous Aintree Racecourse.
To enter, hopefuls will have to submit three original photos which best represent the spirit of the Grand National race to crabbiesgrandnational@hatchpr.co.uk- with at least one of these images showing a link or reference to horse racing.
Richard Midgley, marketing director of Crabbie’s Alcoholic Ginger Beer, said of the competition: ‘Within our first year as the title sponsor of the National we want to get everyone involved, so whether you’re an up and coming photographer looking to kick-start your career, a retired amateur who feels it’s time to dust off your lenses or a newcomer to photography this is your chance to show us what the Festival means to you. From fashion to racehorses we’re hoping to see some creative images which embody the spirit of this historic event.’
John Baker, regional director of the Jockey Club, added: ‘This is a fantastic competition that Crabbie’s are launching and we hope to see some diverse and exciting images, which showcase the drama, excitement and showmanship which embodies the true spirit of the Grand National Festival.’
Crabbie’s was announced as the new official title sponsor of the Grand National Festival, which encompasses all races including the first £1 million Grand National race, in August last year – replacing long-term partner John Smith’s, who had backed the race since 2005.
Closing date for entries Friday 7th March 2014, with the top ten posted on the Crabbie’s Facebook page the following Monday where ‘likes’ will count as a vote.
Two runners up will also each win £250 of Jessops vouchers and the top 10 entrants selected by the panel will each receive a case of Crabbie’s Alcoholic Ginger Beer.
