Former sport minister Tracey Crouch, who resigned earlier this month sparking a government U-turn on the timetable for implementing new FOBT legislation, is to join the Judging panel for the BT Sport Industry Awards 2019.

The Conservative MP for Chatham and Aylesford, who has since been replaced in the role by her parliamentary colleague Mims Davies, becomes the latest high-profile figure to be appointed as part of a process that will determine the best of the commercial sport industry’s work this year.

It comes with less than two weeks to go before #BTSIA entries close on Thursday, 29th November.

Crouch, famously a football fanatic and FA-qualified coach, will participate in a Judging panel chaired by ex-Sported CEO Chris Grant, and which features world-leading subject matter experts from both inside and outside the UK sport industry.

Other Judges recently announced include Jeremy Waite, European chief strategy officer for IBM Watson, former BT Sport managing director and leading Sky executive Delia Bushell, and Garry Cook, Gfinity executive chairman and former Manchester City FC CEO.

This year’s panel also features both the incoming and outgoing chief executives of Sport England – Jennie Price and Tim Hollingsworth. A full list of Judges can be found here.

The BT Sport Industry Awards is the world’s largest and most prestigious commercial sports awards, which has recognised the sector’s best work every year since 2001.

Its Judging process is widely recognised as one of the most transparent and stringent procedures of its kind, fully overseen by the official adjudicator EY, led by Tom Kingsley.

The process is spread across two stages starting with the Industry Selects shortlisting sessions, which involve more than 80 senior figures from sport business and beyond.

The Official Shortlist, which will be announced on Friday, 15th February, will then be scrutinised by the Judges during a full-day session, before the winners are announced at the BT Sport Industry Awards 2019 on Thursday 25th April at Battersea Evolution, London.
