Speed Communications has been appointed by Blaze, creators of the Laserlight, as the lead communications agency to help raise the brand’s global profile across UK, Europe and the US after a competitive pitch process. The PR agency will manage Blaze’s global media relations and lead on brand campaigns across all territories.
Blaze is a new brand to the cycling scene, which aims to create cycling solutions for the urban cyclist including the Laserlight (pictured above), a bike light device that uses a laser to project an image of a cyclist down onto the road 6m ahead of the bike and makes cyclists more visibile. The Blaze Laserlight provides the cyclist with a larger footprint on the road, serving as an advance signal to motorists and pedestrians alike.
The tech start up, led by founder and CEO Emily Brooke, now ships products to over 50 countries and has attracted investment from the Branson family, Index Ventures and Pembroke VCT. Earlier this year Blaze signed a new trial with Transport for London and Santander Cycles, seeing the Laserlight fitted to 250 cycle scheme hire bikes.
Brooke commented: “We are very excited to be working with Speed Communications, they have a superb reputation in cycling and tech start ups. We have a crucial year ahead of us, covering new product launches, territory development and some exciting partnership opportunities. It’s great to be working with an agency that understands the needs of a fast growth start up business and matches this with an unrivalled knowledge of the cycling market.”
Kate Bosomworth, managing director, Speed Communications added: “The Blaze Laserlight is an incredible piece of design and technology. Blaze is a fantasic fit for our rapidly growing cycling division and it’s exciting to be working with such an ambitious team who we know will change the future of urban cycling.”
