The Rugby Football League (RFL), rugby league’s governing body, has signed a partnership with automotive company Dacia.

The three-year deal will run until 2018 and see the Renault-owned brand become the official car partner of the First Utility Super League and the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup, as well as the title partner for the Dacia World Club Series.

To mark the start of the partnership, Dacia travelled to the homes of St Helens, Wigan Warriors and Leeds Rhinos, the three clubs that will welcome Australian counterparts for the Dacia World Club Series in under one months’ time.

Ed Preston, Dacia communications manager said: “Our new partnership with the Rugby Football League is very exciting for all of us at Dacia. With its no-nonsense approach and community spirit, rugby league was the natural fit for our brand and we’re looking forward to working with the RFL to bring something new and fun to the game for fans.

“We’re looking forward to the season kicking off in a few days and also the World Club Series which will be our first big activation of the deal. We’re working with the RFL and our dealerships to help bring these to life and ensure that the local communities benefit from the partnership.”

RFL commercial director, Chris Rawlings said: “This is fantastic news having Dacia come on board as our newest partner. Securing a long-term partner like this is good for the sport.

“Dacia share our values and they have real passion to support Rugby League across multiple events and the community game. We’re looking forward to working together and making this partnership a success.”
