Double Olympic champion and middle distance runner, Dame Kelly Holmes has become the latest ambassador for GPS technology brand Garmin.
Holmes won gold medals for both the 800m and 1500m distances at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. Now retired, Holmes continues to train and will take part in the 2016 London Marathon this April.
The 12 month partnership will see Holmes front a global brand campaign, Beat Yesterday, which focuses on inspiring consumers to constantly strive for improvement.
Holmes will share personal experiences demonstrating how she has overcome challenges and effectively ‘Beat Yesterday’ to help bring the campaign to life.
“Garmin is a brand I have trusted since I started using technology to track my performance,” said Holmes, “I love to monitor and challenge myself, whether I am training, competing or just having fun, and I am excited to partner with Garmin to share my passion with others and inspire them to constantly challenge themselves to improve and stay active.”
Richard Daish, senior marketing executive for Fitness, Garmin said, “We’re very excited to welcome Dame Kelly Holmes to the Garmin team and work with someone who shares our passion for fitness. Kelly embodies exactly what it means to ‘Beat Yesterday’ and her achievements speak for themselves. She currently runs with a Forerunner 630 but has used Garmin technology for several years and we are very proud that she has chosen to work with us. Her recent transition from a middle distance runner to a marathon runner is quite remarkable and we look forward to an exciting year ahead.”
