Sports and entertainment platform DAZN has reached a deal that has secured the European broadcasting rights for the Australian men’s top-tier National Basketball League (NBL).

Basketball fans across Europe will also be able to engage with NBL through the DAZN streaming platform, with a multi-dimensional, multi-screen digital experience on offer. 

DAZN will also become the distributor of the NBL in Canada as part of the deal, providing Canadian fans the same benefits and content.

“We look forward to broadcasting the games on DAZN and bringing fans and subscribers in Europe top courtside action from one of the best basketball leagues in the world.”

NBL Chief Commercial Officer Brad Joyner, said, “We are extremely pleased to have reached an agreement with an operator such as DAZN to distribute our content throughout some of Europe’s major territories and Canada.”

“The NBL is the second-best league in the world and attracts players from across the globe. We have a strong European and Canadian following and this partnership will enhance our offering for that passionate fanbase. Aligning with DAZN displays the unprecedented interest in the NBL both domestically and internationally, and we look forward to continuing to grow our global reach.”

The 2022-23 NBL season kicked off on 1st October 2022 and will conclude on 5th February 2023.

DAZN sports broadcasting rights continues to grow. It currently holds the domestic broadcasting rights for top professional football leagues in its main markets – Italy’s Serie A, Spain’s La Liga and Germany’s Bundesliga and Japan’s J League – as well as global boxing rights through its partnership with Matchroom, Golden Boy, Anthony Joshua, and Misfits Boxing.
