Deliveroo has announced that it will donate football kits to 200 new female teams across the UK.
The food delivery company has reprised its Gift of Kit programme, in which it supported some 28,000 grassroots football players in 2019. This time, it will randomly select more than 200 teams to receive free Deliveroo-branded kits.
According to the brand, each winner will receive 14 of the numbered Nike jerseys in a range of colours (x13 outfield, x1 goalkeeper); 100 £5 vouchers for team / club members to use during 2021; and access to additional Deliveroo offers, promotions and experiences during the season.
Teams can apply to win the prize until 1st November, while the initiative aims to help clubs who have been severely impacted by COVID-19. Deliveroo says women’s and girls’ football is considered most at-risk from the economic impact of the pandemic.
Caroline Harris, Marketing Director UKI for Deliveroo said: “We are committed to supporting the local communities that we are part of, and are grateful to have this opportunity to help local grassroots teams most in need, and get them back on their feet.”
The move follows the FA’s announcement of a new four-year strategy for women’s and girls’ football, which Deliveroo is supporting as a partner of the governing body for football in England.
