Derby County have confirmed that the club has reached an agreement with No Limits Sports for the takeover of the Championship side.

The news means the club is on the verge of a takeover, and comes after a takeover bid from Bin Zayed International fell through.

In a statement, Derby confirmed the agreement, but also confirmed that the deal is still subject to the approval of the EFL’s Owners and Directors Test

“Derby County Football Club wishes to confirm that a definitive agreement to purchase the club has been reached with No Limits Sports Limited,” said the statement.

“The transaction, which is still subject to the EFL’s Owners and Directors Test approval, is expected to close in the near future.

“As agreed with No Limits Sports there will be no further comment until the transaction is complete. This is to ensure that all of the club’s focus will be on the Championship run in.”

Derby, managed by former England captain Wayne Rooney, are currently facing a relegation battle in English football’s second tier.
