DHL has signed a two-year extension to its long-term partnership with Formula One, which will see the company continue in its role as the official logistics and global partner of the world championship.
The logistics company will continue to provide a range of services to support the competition, including express, ocean and air freight, customs brokerage and specialist handling at 19 different race circuits across five continents.
The firm, which first linked up with the sport in 2004, will also retain its ownership of the DHL Fastest Lap award, presented to the driver who records the highest amount of fastest laps throughout the season.
Formula One Group CEO Bernie Ecclestone said: ‘We have a longstanding operational and commercial relationship with DHL, and we are more than happy to have DHL as one of our global brands again, who are dedicated to delivering exceptional quality.’
‘As official logistics partner, DHL continues to play an important role in Formula One, and they in turn will benefit immensely from the opportunity to showcase their brand to one of the most committed and passionate global fan bases of any sport.’
Roger Crook, CEO of DHL global forwarding, freight added: ‘Our partnership is built on a shared commitment to values such as speed, precision and conquering new frontiers. DHL has long been a pioneer in global transportation and supply chain management and has over 25 years of experience in motorsports logistics, specifically.’
The 2013 Formula One season begins on Sunday with the Rolex Australian Grand Prix at Melbourne’s Albert Park circuit.
