Domino’s Pizza is the latest brand looking to hang on the coattails of the
upcoming Rugby World Cup with the launch of a TV ad campaign featuring Leicester
Tigers and Samoan rugby player Alesana Tuilagi.
The ad, which has been created by Domino’s incumbent ad agency Team Saatchi,
breaks this week and targets all rugby fans specifically promoting the brand’s
Scrummy pizza which is described as the ‘meatiest pizza yet’.
The creative focuses on the Domino’s boys – Bernard and John – who have
appeared in other recent commercials for the brand watching rugby on TV with
Tuilagi sitting in between the two.
The doorbell rings with the pizza delivery and leads to John rugby tackling
Bernard to get to the door before Tuilagi brushes both of them aside to take the
delivery.
Robin Auld, sales and marketing director at Domino’s UK, said: ‘The idea
behind the ad is that only real rugby fans are man enough to handle the new
Domino’s Scrummy pizza, our meatiest pizza with six meat toppings. Alesani
Tuilagi was the perfect star for the ad.’
The ads will run on TV in the UK and Ireland until 7th October.
Domino’s has no offical affiliation with the Rugby World Cup 2007.
