Following a turbulent year in the spotlight, Chelsea player Didier Drogba has hired The Sports PR Company to look after all his public relations and media worldwide.
The striker has hired the company following a press-heavy year, which included several rumours about the player’s relationship with Chelsea and possible fines.
Admitting the last six months of 2008 had been the hardest of his life, Drogba has appeared to be on edge with his team and struggled with an injury for the better part of the year.
He also faced investigation in December after throwing an object back into the crowd during his team’s Carling Cup tie against Burnley and possible fine charges after claiming to French Football World that Chelsea was ‘unsupportive’ of him.
The Sports PR Company will now deal with all of the football player’s publicity and media coverage.
The company was set up in 2007 by Caroline McAteer and Pippa Hancock. Other football clients include Petr Cech, Michael Essien, Patrice Evra and Djibril Cisse.
