Sports Show Ltd and Vitality have launched a new sports day aimed specifically at businesses.
The Business Sports Day, taking place at the NEC Birmingham on 24th June, will be hosted by Rugby World Cup winners Will Greenwood and Maggie Alphonsi, Olympic Games gold medallist Mark Hunter and former World, Commonwealth and European world champion Roger Black MBE. The day will be led by former Olympian turned professor, Greg Whyte, who is known for his involvement in Sport Relief.
Business Sports Day with Vitality will give companies the opportunity to test skills against other corporations through sporting tasks that have been designed to challenge business strengths.
Over 25 sporting bodies have created the challenges and those selected will test teamwork, delivering under pressure, communication, precision and leadership.
Teams will fight for points and tackle six different challenges, with each challenge supported by a team talk from a sporting host. The winner will be named UK’s Business Sports Day with Vitality champions.
Business Sports Day with Vitality is also supporting a number of charities who will be actively involved in the day including SportsAid, StreetGames and Sported.
Nick Read, commercial director at Vitality, said: “We believe in the power of sport to help inspire people to get active and live a healthy life. We are therefore delighted to be partnering with the Sports Show Ltd to launch Business Sports Day with Vitality, an event that will celebrate the importance of health, fitness and teamwork in a fun and exciting environment.
“Workplace wellness is becoming an increasingly pertinent issue around the UK’s boardrooms. Our Britain’s healthiest workplace research shows that companies which are concerned about employee wellbeing, and have an authentic culture of health within the business, typically have healthier and more productive employees.”
Sports Show Ltd founder Will Greenwood added: “Sport challenges you to be the best version of yourself for the sake of the team. It’s a huge year for sport with the Euros and Olympics, so we wanted to offer businesses the chance to test their teams in a different environment against some of the UK’s leading companies.”
Vitality is also an official wellness partner of the Sports Show. The event, which takes place on the 25th-26th June following Business Sports Day with Vitality, has been created to inspire children of all ages to play sport, love sport and live sport.
The 100,000 square metre NEC arena will offer children and families over 30 sports to choose from and the chance to learn from sporting heroes. The event already has the support from sporting national governing bodies, including the England Rugby, British Cycling and England Athletics.
