England’s 2012/13 tour of India is set to include four Tests, five one-day internationals and two Twenty20 games, after the ECB announced details of the winter tour.
The squad, currently the number one test team in the world, will take part in a three day training session in Dubai on 25th October, before flying to India five days later.
The first Test in India will commence on 15th November in Ahmedabad; the second Test in Mumbai will take place from 23rd November; the third Test will begin on 5th December in Kolkata, with the fourth and final test in Nagpur running from 13th to 17th December.
Two Twenty20 matches will then take place on 20th and 22nd December, before the squad travels home for Christmas – returning for the one-day matches which begin on 11th January 2013, with all five clashes set to be day-night encounters.
Hugh Morris, managing director of England Cricket, said: ‘This will be England’s first full tour of India since 2008 and I am sure that cricket fans in both countries will be eagerly anticipating an exciting series of contests in all three formats of the game.’
‘ECB will also be seeking to finalise an England Performance Programme camp in India before Christmas which will help prepare members of both our Test and T20 squads.’
England hosted World Cup winners India last year, beating them 4-0 to go top of the world Test rankings, before struggling in subsequent tours of the sub-continent, losing 3-0 to Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates before drawing the two-Test series in Sri Lanka.
England got off to a winning start in the first Test against the West Indies, beating them by five wickets at Lord’s on Monday.
