The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has appointed Scott Smith as chief financial officer. Currently CFO of the America’s Cup, he will start his role in the ECB head office at Lord’s in May 2016.
Reporting to chief executive officer Tom Harrison, Smith will be company secretary and a member of the ECB leadership team.
He has been with the America’s Cup since 2011, with responsibilities including governance, compliance and risk management. He was previously group financial controller for Lend Lease Corporation in London, a project and construction business.
He will be responsible for reporting and budgeting within the ECB, supporting revenue objectives across the game and giving financial guidance at all levels.
Scott will also lead business services including information technology and procurement as well as the finance team.
On making the appointment, Tom Harrison said: “Scott has experience in sport, all the credentials of an excellent CFO and the leadership skills to drive improvement.
“His love of cricket is clear and he can help us make a difference to the game in the years ahead. With all the personal and professional qualities he brings, I’m excited to have him join our leadership team and the game.”
On joining the ECB, Scott added: “I’m looking forward to joining the ECB, being part of a leadership team that has ideas and energy and helping to support and develop a sport I love.”
