ECB Leadership Set For Deltatre Sport Industry Breakfast Club
England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) CEO Tom Harrison and director of England women’s cricket, Clare Connor have been confirmed for the Deltatre Sport Industry Breakfast Club, taking place at The BT Centre on Tuesday 7th November.
Harrison and Connor will be speaking ahead of the 2017/18 men’s Ashes Series, starting just two weeks later in Brisbane from 23rd November. The women’s team will already be down under for their series in Australia, which includes the first ever women’s day/night Test, having been crowned ICC Women’s World Cup champions in front of a sold-out Lord’s in July.
A former professional cricketer, Harrison took up the role of CEO at the ECB in 2015, having previously spent time as a senior vice president for IMG. Since heading up the ECB he has overseen a game-changing broadcast rights deal with Sky and the BBC, initiated a major new junior cricket programme for five to eight-year-olds and won game-wide backing for a new eight-team T20 tournament set to launch in 2020.
Clare Connor captained England Women to a famous Ashes victory in 2005 before joining the ECB as Head of Women’s Cricket two years later. A former teacher, she has been instrumental in changing the face of the women’s game; introducing professional contracts for the England team, creating a new domestic competition, the Kia Super League, and overseeing three England victories in global events; the ICC Women’s World Cup and World T20 in 2009, and this summer’s Women’s World Cup triumph over India at Lord’s.
Moderating the discussion will be sports broadcaster James Pearce, as the pair discuss those ground-breaking television deals; how cricket can capitalise on the worldwide explosion of interest in the T20 format; ECB’s future plans for the grassroots game and the increasing commercial appeal of women’s cricket.
