The England and Wales Cricket Board will have to organise a re-election vote for
who will become its next chairman after the initial ballot ended in a draw
between nominees Michael Soper and Giles Clarke.

Both Soper and Clarke registered 9 votes each from the board of county
chairmen and the MCC chairman with one abstention.

The ECB will now consider over the next 48 hours a timeline for a re-election
ballot to see who will take over from incumbent chairman David Morgan who is
leaving to become president of the ICC at the end of September.

Clarke is currently chairman of Somerset County Cricket Club while Soper is
the existing vice chairman of the ECB.

The new ECB chairman will take office with effect from 1st October, 2007 with
the chairmanship running through to 31st March, 2009.
