The Rugby World Cup final in 2011 is to be held at Auckland’s Eden Park stadium,
the International Rugby Board has announced.
The venue’s capacity of 60,000 is to be increased in the time for the climax
of the 2011 tournament which will be staged at various stadia around host nation
New Zealand.
The final will take place at Eden Park, which hosted the inaugural World Cup
final in 1987, on the weekend of the 22nd-23rd October.
The IRB will decide later this year as to whether the number of competing
nations in the Rugby World Cup 2011 will be reduced from the existing structure
of 20 down to 16.
