The English Football League (EFL) has penned a five-year partnership renewal with Electronic Arts (EA) for the EA Sports FC video game series.

As per the agreement, EA Sports FC will remain as the title sponsor of the Young Player of the Year award for the EFL Championship, League One and League Two, under the extension that covers all 72 clubs across the three divisions.

The renewal comes ahead of this year’s EFL Awards on 14th April.

EA first became a licensee of the governing body in 2006, and later received ‘official partner’ designation from the 2017/18 season.

EA Sports FC launched in September as the first edition of the video game, after EA and FIFA went their separate ways in 2023, ending a 30-year collaboration on the FIFA game series.

EFL Chief Commercial Officer, Ben Wright said, “The EFL is really pleased to extend a longstanding partnership with a globally respected and valued partner in EA Sports FC.

“This extension comes off the back of many exciting developments and partnerships for the League, most recently the newly announced international TV rights deal, which adds to the EFL’s global appeal among fans.

“We’re on an exciting new cycle for the League with many more opportunities to explore, and we’re delighted to have an innovative company like EA Sports FC with us on the journey.”
