Organisers of the next Rugby World Cup, to be hosted in England in 2015, have revealed details of ticket prices and schedules for the 48 match tournament – with 2.3 million tickets to go on sale next year.
Tickets start from £15 for adults and £7 for children, and more than one million of the 2.3 million tickets available will be priced at £100 or less, although the cheapest seats for the final will set fans back £150.
England 2015 and the International Rugby Board (IRB) have claimed they are confident of selling out the 13 venues during the six week tournament.
Tickets for knockout matches range from £15 to £515 while prices for the final at London’s Twickenham Stadium start at £150 rising to £715.
The first tickets will be available to buy from 1st January as part of travelling fan packages followed by hospitality packages available from 2nd February, with the first batch of tickets – around 500,000 – distributed through clubs affiliated to the Rugby Football Union next May.
The general sale launch begins in September and there will be a ballot system in place for oversubscribed matches. Unsold tickets will be made available through Ticketmaster from December.
England 2015 chief executive Debbie Jevans said: ‘For £70 a family of four can watch Australia. Indeed for £130 a family of four could watch England playing in Manchester.’
‘But to achieve that we have never shied away from the fact you do have to raise those revenues to put on the event.’
‘Therefore, at the back end of the tournament, £750 is our top price for the final, which some may say is expensive but equally that does compare with previous World Cups.’
All England’s pool matches will kick off at 8pm, including the opening match at Twickenham on Friday, 18th September.
