Shadow sports minister Hugh Robertson is seeking to make public the salaries of the England 2018 World Cup bid company’s directors.
Although there has been speculation that the Football Association had reportedly agreed to pay FA chairman Lord Triesman £100,000 a year for a two day a week commitment to the bid, as well as six other board members a £35,000-a-year stipend, a spokesman for England 2018 has refused to confirm which directors have taken up the offer.
Comparatively, non-executive board members for the £9.3bn London 2012 project reportedly earn £1,000 per meeting.
Robertson is now aiming to table a parliamentary question that requires details on all the directors’ salaries involved in the England 2018 bid.
