According to media reports, Lalit Modi, chairman of Champions League and Indian Premier League, has dubbed England the leading contender to host cricket’s Twenty20 Champions League next year.
The inaugural Champions League is currently taking place in India, with England teams Sussex and Somerset among the 12 to qualify.
Modi has reportedly said that he ‘wants to take the Champions League to England’ and that it could be ‘as early as next year’.
However, Modi has insisted that the tournament would be help in September or October, which poses issues for England regarding weather.
South Africa has been reported as being the other front runner.
