England fans finally discovered the route that the national team will be required to take in order to reach the knockout stages of the FIFA World Cup in 2014, after the draw revealed the Three Lions would be joined by Italy, Uruguay and Costa Rica in Group D.

However, Bloomberg Sports has predicted that England will escape the so-called ‘Group of Death’ at the expense of Uruguay before crashing out in the second round at the hands of Colombia.

Using its scientifically calculated projections, Bloomberg Sports also predicts that Brazil will win the tournament, beating current holders Spain 2-1 in the final.

‘The World Cup is the biggest sporting event in the world and BSports are adding our mathematically-derived predictions to the debate, just as we did with our projections for the Champions League and European domestic leagues,’ said Bill Squadron, President of Bloomberg Sports.

‘These purely data-driven probabilities will be updated throughout the World Cup to provide fans, bettors and fantasy players with greater insights into the tournament.’

Meanwhile, as the only official tour operator in the UK, Thomson Sport is encouraging fans to register their interest in the official packages which will go on general sale early this week.

Roy Hodgson’s men open their campaign against Italy in the Amazonian city of Manaus on 15th June – in the only World Cup game which kicks off at 02:00 BST – before taking on Uruguay on 19th June and play Costa Rica five days later.

England will have to travel 1,777 miles from their chosen base in Rio for their first match in the tropical heat of Manaus, which is in the Amazon jungle, with temperatures reaching 30C and humidity is about 80%.

Tom Forshaw, managing director of Thomson Sport, who are part of global tour operator TUI Travel PLC, said: ‘Our team has been working on this project for over three years to ensure that England fans gets the best experience supporting England’s quest for glory in Brazil. This work has involved countless days of research into routes, accommodation, experiences and health and safety requirements to ensure the fans enjoy the wonders of Brazil 2014 on and off the field.’

‘This is our sixth year planning trips for englandfans for major tournaments and we’ve been creating World Cup packages since 1996. We know what to include from knowledgeable guides to exclusive experiences, so the fans can not only enjoy the football, but everything else about the trip.’
