Sky Sports’ coverage of England’s defeat against the West Indies in the ICC World Twenty20 cricket tournament was watched by an average of 1.03m people, peaking at 1.6m viewers.

Despite England’s loss and the rain-affected match, the live coverage from Sky Sports 1 attracted a multichannel share of 6.09% between 5.30pm and 9.15pm.

The peak of 1.629m  occurred at the end of the match in the 15 minutes from 9pm, according to unofficial overnight figures.

Last weekend, Sky Sports 1’s live coverage of England’s victory over India was watched by 1.5m over three and a half hours from 17:30.

Despite the high numbers, the amount of Sky Sports 1’s peak viewers were still less than half of those watching BBC and ITV during the same time slot, who were broadcasting a repeat drama and a news interview, respectively.
