Ahead of their opening 2014 World Cup qualification match this evening, the England Football team have extended their contract with 1966 to exclusively manage the commercial and charitable interests of the squad for the next six years, including the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

1966 were first appointed by the players in 2006, and with the backing of the squad continue the partnership that includes full representation and management of the England commercial programme, whilst working alongside the Football Association and its partners.

1966 also manages the England Footballers Foundation following the team’s decision to donate their match fees and dedicate their time to chosen charity partners.

Since 2007 the players have raised more than £2.5million, provided over 100 player appearances for their charity partners and produced three national ad campaigns to raise awareness for chosen causes. The players have also recently established a series of exclusive fundraising events, including their ‘Lions and Roses’ gala dinner.

Chairman of 1966 Terry Byrne said: ‘We are delighted to extend our successful partnership with the England squad and to continue working closely with the Football Association and their sponsors for the next six years.’

‘We are also very pleased to have the opportunity to grow the England Footballers Foundation that is having an incredible impact on individuals across the country. We have worked with some truly deserving beneficiaries to date and we look forward to taking this initiative from strength to strength.’
