England Rugby League have announced a new partnership with energy supplier E.ON ahead of the return of the Rugby League Ashes this autumn.
The agreement will see the E.ON Next logo displayed on the England team’s playing kit and on the pitch during the three-Test series against Australia, which is being held for the first time in 22 years.
As part of the partnership, E.ON will offer junior players from community rugby league clubs the opportunity to be official mascots for the team at each of the matches.
Rhodri Jones, Managing Director, RL Commercial, said, “We are delighted to welcome E.ON to Rugby League ahead of the eagerly-awaited return of the Rugby League Ashes this autumn. We want the whole country to get behind Shaun Wane and his England team as they prepare for the ultimate Rugby League test against the Kangaroos, and to have E.ON Next on the backs of their jerseys is another great boost. E.ON’s commitment to communities is a perfect fit for Rugby League, and we’re thrilled that the partnership will involve unforgettable opportunities for youngsters from our community clubs to be mascots for the England team at each of the three Tests.”
Scott Somerville, Director of External Affairs, E.ON UK, said, “We are thrilled to be backing the England Rugby League team as they take on the Kangaroos in this year’s newly reinstated and hotly anticipated Ashes series. We wish the England team the very best as they chase down the Rugby League Ashes this year. Our new partnership with England Rugby League means we can further boost the work we do in communities across the country to make a lasting difference.”
