England women’s cricketers are featuring in a new campaign ‘Smashing Boundaries Together’ to drive ticket sales for the women’s Ashes series.

Launched by the ECB, the sport’s national governing body, the campaign represents the most significant marketing investment to date in the women’s game.

The new campaign features members of the England women’s team in full kit, and is created to promote both the fixtures and the players.

The adverts feature symbols of the evolution of female cricket, such as white heather representing the Yorkshire ‘White Heathers’, the first ever all female cricket team.  There is also an old-fashioned white pleated skirt cast aside, illustrating the changes to the game in recent years.

England women’s captain, Charlotte Edwards, said: “We love that the imagery has captured just how much we enjoy playing together, and how passionate we are about the women’s game continuing to move forward.  From making my England debut in a skirt, to being a full-time professional cricketer, the strides that have been made during my career are quite remarkable, and it is great that this is reflected so strongly in the new campaign.”

According to the ECB, the campaign also references iconic moments in feminism, such as Katherine Brunt’s nod to the famous ‘We Can Do It!’ J. Howard Miller wartime propaganda poster associated with female empowerment.

England women will be aiming to defend the women’s Ashes this summer in the unique multi-format contest, starting on 21st July with the first Royal London One-Day International at the County Ground in Taunton.

For the first time, Sky Sports will provide live television coverage of every ball in the seven matches of the 2015 Women’s Ashes series, and BBC Radio will also cover every ball.

James Woodroof, senior marketing manager at ECB, added: “With every ball of the women’s Ashes covered live, great support from our commercial partners, and a boost from this bold new campaign, we are anticipating a record-breaking summer for the women’s game”
