Beyond Sport has launched its Global Awards, now in its tenth anniversary year.
The Beyond Sport Global Awards 2018 will facilitate funding of over $300,000 from the Beyond Sport Foundation, as well as strategic business support in order to support the growth of the shortlist and winners.
Taking place at the One World Observatory in New York City on 12th September, the Awards will celebrate, support, and raise awareness of ways sport is being used in communities around the world to help make the UN’s Global Goals for Sustainable Development (UN SDGs) a reality.
As in the 2017 Awards, the categories will align with and promote sport’s role in helping to achieve the UN SDGs, ranging from the Sport for Quality Education and Employment Award, to the Sport for Equality Award, to the Sport Climate Action Award.
It’s free to enter and the deadline to submit an application is 10th May. Beyond Sport will be announcing its shortlist in mid-July.
The Beyond Sport Foundation supports the shortlist and winners of the Beyond Sport Global Awards in a number of ways. This support includes cash grants, facilitated by the ongoing support of the Foundation’s funding partners and strategic business support including free expert legal advice, online fundraising support and monitoring and evaluation software.
The shortlist will also receive facilitated networking opportunities, which will consist of complimentary passes to Beyond Sport United and the Awards, and speaking/workshop opportunities at future Beyond Sport and partner events.
Nick Keller, founder and president, Beyond Sport said: “Now, more than ever, all sectors need to contribute to the UN SDGs and we believe that it is crucial to shine a light on the role sport is playing in this endeavour. The Beyond Sport Global Awards are the perfect platform for organizations to show that throughout the world, sport can be harnessed to improve lives and create lasting positive social change.”
