Entries for the Sport Industry Awards 2023 have officially opened, with Kick It Out Chair Sanjay Bhandari announced as Chair of the Judges.

The Sport Industry Awards celebrate the immense work carried out within the sector, whether it’s delivering world-class events and campaigns, using sport as a platform to drive social change, or activating a sponsorship that reverberates around the industry and beyond.

The 2023 edition of the Sport Industry Awards will take place at Evolution London in Battersea on Thursday 27th April and sees the introduction of new categories, with a total of 18 prestigious awards up for grabs.

To better service the huge number of entries relating to digital content at last year’s awards, the two existing content categories – Original Standalone Content Award and Original Content Series Award – have been renamed to the Branded Content Award and Original Content Award, while a new Best On Social category has been introduced and is open to any organisation that has delivered exceptional work on any or multiple social media platforms over a significant period of time.

Staying within the content and technology space, Best Streaming Platform will be a new category for 2023 and is targeted at rightsholders who currently operate a DTC service for their fans, while the Cutting Edge Award has been renamed to the Tech Innovation Award and remains open to any organisation that has brought a new technology to the market or is using an existing technology in an innovative way.

Elsewhere, the Experiential Marketing Award returns to the line-up following a two-year, Covid-related hiatus, and a new Purpose Driven Sponsorship Award has been introduced in order to celebrate sponsorships designed to drive social or environmental impact through sport.

To further encourage organisations within the sport industry to behave in a responsible and sustainable way, this year all entrants are being encouraged to consider and detail the environmental impact of their activities. Although any information provided on sustainability measures will not affect applications, this will be a mandatory part of the entry process in 2024.

The Sport Industry Awards are a fantastic annual  celebration of the impact of sport. I am very excited to be joining as the Chair of such an array of talented judges from across the breadth of the industry.”

Sanjay Bhandari

Sport Industry Group Managing Director, Dylan Pugh, added, “I’m delighted to announce that the Sport Industry Awards 2023 are now officially open. Every year myself and the Sport Industry Group team are amazed at the level of creativity, innovation and ingenuity on display throughout the UK sport industry and we look forward to receiving entries from the sector’s best and brightest.

“I’m equally thrilled to welcome Sanjay Bhandari as our new Chairman of the Judges. Sanjay’s first-hand experience of using sport for good is unrivalled in our industry and we’re looking forward to having him join us in the Sport Industry Group offices next year in order to steer the judging process.”

Entries for the Sport Industry Awards 2023 will close on Thursday 8th December, however, extensions will be allowed for 2022 FIFA World Cup campaigns. As with all the Sport Industry Awards, the selection process for the winners is fully overseen by a team of independent adjudicators.
