epcr Secures Asian Coverage

Pay-television sports channel broadcaster Premier Sports has agreed a two-season rights deal with European Professional Club Rugby (EPCR) to broadcast European club competitions the Heineken Champions Cup and EPCR Challenge Cup in Southeast Asia.

The agreement with European Professional Club Rugby (EPCR) covers the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons, with the former kicking off on 10th December.

Premier Sports will offer live coverage of every match in the Champions Cup and selected matches in the Challenge Cup for customers in over 20 countries in the region.

Agencies Infront and River Media Partners currently sell the rights for the competitions outside of European territories.

Premier Sports Asia Chief Executive, Ryle Nugent, said, “The Heineken Champions Cup and the EPCR Challenge Cup are a fantastic addition to our suite of premium rugby union properties making Premier Sports a must have for any rugby fan in the region.”

With the inclusion of five South African clubs into the Heineken Champions Cup and EPCR Challenge Cup, this season is set to bring even more world-class action to fans all over the world.”

A number of UK rugby union clubs will be playing across the sport’s top-two European club competitions, including Harlequins, Gloucester Rugby, London Irish, Saracens, Leicester Tigers and Exeter Chiefs.

Premier Sports’ rugby portfolio also includes the July internationals, plus southern hemisphere competitions the Rugby Championship and Super Rugby.

EPCR announced a number of it European broadcast deals in October.
