The European Hockey Federation (EHF) has called on all 43 of its members to sign up to its new gender balance charter as its bids to promote equality within the sport.
Through the launch of the charter, Equally Amazing, the EHF aims to ensure “everyone, at every level from the boardroom to the pitch, gets access to the same opportunities, no matter gender, age, race, religion or skill level.”
The EHF has called on all national associations to commit to achieving a minimum of 30% from each gender on their boards, and has committed to doing the same at its General Assembly in Antwerp in August.
EHF President Marijke Fleuren said: “The EHF is committed to upholding the highest governance principles, which for us includes supporting and leveraging the talent of all those involved in hockey.”
“Hockey is considered a role model to other sports in the area of gender balance area, and with the support of all 43 countries within the federation, we will continue to make strides towards becoming an equally amazing sport in every way.”
The charter will be promoted by a new #EquallyAmazing content-led campaign, developed by Promote PR, that will feature advocates from across the sport including athletes, coaches, umpires through to board members.
“Promote have a longstanding history of promoting inclusivity in sport at every level, and we are extremely proud to be working on a project that ensures everyone gets access to the same opportunities regardless of gender,” said Nasima Hussain, Promote’s managing director.
“We are excited for everyone to see the final campaign and positive impact of the Charter for generations to come.”
