The European Tour has today announced a multi-year partnership with video communications provider Zoom.

The company will become the Official Unified Communications Partner of the golf tour, and will provide ‘virtual and collaborative experiences’ for media, commercial partners, hospitality guests and fans.

Zoom will deliver virtual press conferences and facilitate ‘key stakeholder activities’ at tournaments through a new Zoom Media Centre, which will be launched at the Betfred British Masters, which will be hosted at The Belfry by major champion Danny Willett, and takes place between 12th and 15th May.

The European Tour also says the partnership will help it to achieve its sustainability goals, ‘specifically contributing to remote operations including tournament planning’. The pair will work together to reduce the Tour’s carbon emissions by using virtual communications services and ‘enhanced collaboration services’ in the future.

“We are delighted to welcome Zoom as the Official Unified Communications platform of the European Tour,” said Guy Kinnings, Deputy CEO, Ryder Cup Director and Chief Commercial Officer, European Tour.

“The way each of us interacts has changed considerably over the past 12 to 18 months and we are excited to fully leverage the broad capabilities and services of Zoom to our wider business, creating innovative solutions for driving future engagement with players, media, partners and our fans.”

Janine Pelosi, Chief Marketing Officer at Zoom, added: “We are thrilled to enter a multi-year partnership with the European Tour. Through a combination of virtual and on-site activations we will provide a seamless hybrid and collaborative model shaping the future of sports events for all stakeholders involved including  media, commercial partners, hospitality guests and the fans.”

The pair will also offer fans the chance to join the Virtual Clubhouse through Zoom at select events to experience a ‘range of innovative spectator engagements’ as part of the deal’s fan engagement aspect.

The deal also sees Zoom join Rolex, BMW, Callaway, DP World, Emirates and Workday as part of the tour’s stable of Official Partners.
