International sports broadcaster Eurosport has acquired the live rights for Bradley Wiggins’ International Cycling Union Hour Record attempt which is set to take place on Saturday 7th June.

The rights cover Europe, excluding the UK, and the Asia-Pacific region, and are exclusive in Belgium, France, Germany, Netherlands, Poland and Spain.

Wiggins, who is confident that he can beat the official record of 52.937km set last month by Alex Dowsett, will ride at London’s Lee Valley VeloPark on Saturday in an attempt to claim the record from fellow Briton Dowsett.

New rules dictate that Wiggins must use a conventional time-trial bike, a significant disadvantage to Chris Boardman’s bike when he set his now obsolete record of 55.250km in 1996.

Eurosport’s live coverage will be shown on television and the brand’s digital service, Eurosport Player, which will include interviews with special guests at the event.
