British cycle retailer, Evans Cycles, has announced the launch of its new Better by bike campaign, which aims to celebrate the wider health benefits of cycling.
The initiative will see Evans Cycles help the public to ride more regularly, focussing on a society that is impacted by growing levels of obesity and inactivity. With heart and circulatory diseases killing more than 150,000 people in the UK every year, studies have shown that cycling to and from work can cut heart disease by as much as 46%, according to researchers at Glasgow University.
As part of the campaign, Evans Cycles is supporting a range of schemes to help encourage the public to ride more regularly, including Ride-to-Work, Trade-In, FIX IT maintenance workshops and social media competitions.

Now in its 10th year of operating, the Ride-to-Work scheme has helped over 170,000 people commute by bike, and Evans Cycles has also pledged to raise this to 250,000 people by 2028.
The Great Evans Cycles Trade In scheme can also help riders save money on new bikes, with all exchanged bikes then donated to Evans Cycles’ network of charities across the UK.
Commenting on the campaign, chief executive officer at Evans Cycles, Alan Fort, said: “We are really excited to unveil the Better by bike campaign. Cycling, in all its different forms, has so many benefits for both individuals and our wider society. By using our position as the UK’s leading specialist bike shop to highlight some of these, we hope to encourage people of all ages to get out and ride more. Now fully into British summertime and Bike Week, what better time to show the world how everyone can become better by bike!”
