Everton FC has appointed Tom Rowell as the club’s new head of marketing, joining from Championship side Hull City.

While at the Tigers, Rowell’s responsibilities included managing the team’s marketing, communications and ticketing departments.

Prior to that, Rowell worked in customer relationship management and as a marketing consultant for third-tier team Doncaster Rovers, and also worked as the head of brand and marketing at Birmingham City.

In his new position at the Premier League club, Rowell will report to Richard Kenyon, Everton’s director of marketing and communications, and will oversee marketing insight and design, as well as working to enhance the club’s membership scheme.

He will also work closely with Everton’s partnership team on activation for the team’s main partners, including sports betting company SportPesa and video game franchise Angry Birds, as well as collaborating with kit provider Umbro.

The appointment follows news that Everton’s new stadium at Bramley Moore Dock is set to cost more than its initial £300 million projection, with the move from Goodison Park now planned for 2022/23.

Everton agreed a 200-year lease on the waterfront site in November after ending their search for a new location to replace their historic ground, which has been their home for 125 years.
