Everton Difficult To Sell, Says Harris

The search to find a credible buyer for Everton has been unsuccessful,
partly due to its need for a new stadium  and problematic location,
according to Keith Harris, the merchant banker in charge of the selling
the club.

Along with citing the demographics of Liverpool as a reason for the stall – pointing out the city’s lack of wealth – Harris reportedly explained that Everton does not stand to make a profit for potential buyers unless they choose to invest in improving the facilities or funding transfers.

In order to improve the club’s situation, the chairman of Seymour Pierce Investment Bank reportedly said, it needs a new stadium, as does its neighbouring team, which is also facing financial hardships. A £350 million debt, which is due to be repaid 26 January, might force Liverpool to be sold, as well, according to Harris, which would mean both of the city’s clubs looking for investors at the same time.
