Everton FC has extended its 10-year front-of-shirt sponsorship with Chang for a further three years, extending its streak as the longest-running shirt deal in the Premier League.
The ThaiBev-owned beer’s logo will now continue to appear on the front of the Merseyside team’s matchday jerseys until the end of the 2016/17 season.
The partnership, which started in 2004, will also continue to be marked through joint promotional and community activities in Thailand, as well as the UK, with club academy coaches set to train youngsters in the Asian country in order to help improve the game there.
The club confirmed that the deal could be worth more than £16 million over its duration.
Robert Elstone, chief executive of the football club, said: ‘Everton has enjoyed a special relationship with Chang extending now for ten years. In that period, we have grown to understand one another, delivered great work, helped achieve objectives and developed a truly great partnership and, indeed a friendship, based on mutual trust, respect and affection.’
‘We do not take our partnership and all that we have achieved lightly. Everton is very proud of our mutual success to date.’
‘Chang’s sponsorship with Everton football team is our proudest accomplishment, as we are inspiring people, especially youngsters, regardless of status to become responsible people in society, with positive thinking and attitude – all gained through football,’ added Thapana Sirivadhanabhakdi, the president and chief executive of ThaiBev.
‘We have also created an unprecedented phenomenon in the Thai football scene, where talented Thai football youngsters can earn a chance to be trained by world-renowned Everton Academy coaches.’
