Everton has revealed a club-record £28.2m profit in the latest set of accounts, for the year ending 31st May 2014, with the £120.5m turnover representing the highest in their history, aided by the lucrative new Premier League TV deal, a boost in sponsorship income and gate receipts, as well as profits on player sales.
The club, which published its results on Friday, has also reduced its net debt from £45.3m to £28.1m – returning a profit for the second successive year.
A significant contribution in broadcast revenue – from the latest Premier League television deal with Sky and BT Sport – rose from £55.7m to £88.5m, a figure higher than Everton’s entire turnover for the previous year.
Marouane Fellaini’s £27.5m transfer to Manchester United in September 2013 also helped the club to a £28.2m profit on player trading.
The £28m club-record signing of striker Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea is not included in the latest accounts, as he was not brought in until July this year.
