Everton have penned a new agreement with SmartFrame Technologies, which becomes the club’s technology and image-streaming distributor.
Through the new partnership, the Toffees will acquire ownership of their official images and associated copyright.
SmartFrame’s image-streaming technology will enable Everton’s in-house photography team, as well as sports agency Action Press International, to exclusively distribute images online.
In addition, the UK-based company’s ad tech solution will provide advertising and sponsorship placements, which will feature within Everton images.
SmartFrame’s growing partnership portfolio includes deals with Premier League champions Manchester City and Six Nations Rugby.
The agreement marks the second new partnership for Everton this week, after the Merseyside club revealed watch brand Christopher Ward as the third founding partner for the Toffees’ new stadium.
“I’m delighted that Everton has chosen to adopt our model and join several other prestigious sports brands in transforming the way images are published, viewed, and monetized online,” said Rob Sewell, CEO and Co-Founder of SmartFrame Technologies.
“This agreement marks another stride forward in our commitment to building an image ecosystem rooted in ethics and transparency, and this will only grow stronger as more organisations like Everton come on board.”
Scott McLeod, Head of Engagement and Communications at Everton, added, “Images are an essential part of our online communications.
“To have greater control and visibility over their use, and to be able to offer these official images to publishers, means we can reach new audiences around the world while simultaneously engaging our existing fans in fresh ways.”
