Everton Stadium to host Rugby League Ashes

Everton Stadium has been selected to host the second test of the Rugby League Ashes series on 1st November 2025.


The announcement follows Rugby League Commercial confirming the return of the England-Australia challenge after a 22-year absence. The three-test series will also be played at Wembley Stadium and AMT Headingley with all matches broadcast live on BBC One in the UK.

This event marks the first major non-footballing event at Everton Stadium, which has also been selected as a host venue for UEFA Euro 2028.

Everton season ticket and premium members will have priority access to tickets and stadium experiences.

Everton’s interim Chief Executive Officer, Colin Chong, said, “We are delighted to welcome the Rugby League Ashes series to Everton Stadium this autumn.

“As well as being home to Everton, our new stadium was built to also host world-class sporting and entertainment events. Securing an international fixture of this magnitude demonstrates Everton Stadium’s status as one of the UK’s leading venues.

“The rivalry between England and Australia in rugby league has a rich history and we are excited to welcome fans of the sport to our city and our stadium, which will offer an unforgettable experience in a state-of-the-art setting on the banks of the River Mersey.”

The Rugby League Ashes dates back to 1908 with Australia currently lead the Ashes series with 20 wins to England’s 19.
