Extreme E has renewed its broadcast rights agreement with free-to-air (FTA) network TV4 in Sweden and Finland for the remainder of the 2024 season.
Though the extension, live coverage of the all-electric off-road racing series will continue to air on the network’s linear and digital channels for the remainder of the 2024 season. This includes the TV4 Play and MTV Katsomo streaming platforms across Sweden and Finland respectively.
The Nordic countries have both been identified as key markets for the championship, which features a number of Swedish and Finnish drivers.
A number of established Swedish drivers compete in Extreme E, including reigning champions Johan Kristoffersson and Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky. Fellow compatriots Timmy Hansen, Kevin Hansen, Mattias Ekström and Klara Andersson have also won races.
Finnish former Formula 1 driver Heikki Kovalainen took part in the series in 2023.
Ali Russell, Managing Director at Extreme E, said, “Both Sweden and Finland are crucial markets for Extreme E and I am delighted to extend our agreement with TV4.
“In our four seasons both countries have provided strong talents for our championship, with Sweden’s Johan and Mikaela the current Extreme E champions, and we look forward to seeing the series’ on and off track exploits shown to Swedish and Finnish audiences once again through our partnership with TV4.”
