The FIA Extreme H World Cup has confirmed Qiddiya City, Saudi Arabia, as the host location for its first event, taking place from 9th to 11th October 2025.

The new hydrogen-powered off-road motorsport series will launch with a race set against the backdrop of the Tuwaiq Mountains.

The event marks the official transition from the all-electric Extreme E championship, which will hold its final race, the Desert X Prix, at the same location on 4th and 5th October.

The announcement follows a multi-year agreement between Extreme H and the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) to establish the world’s first hydrogen-powered World Cup. The series will continue Extreme E’s gender-equal format, with each team fielding one male and one female driver.

Alejandro Agag, Founder and Chairman of Extreme H, said, “Qiddiya City is the ideal launchpad for the FIA Extreme H World Cup, a new frontier for motorsport that embodies purpose, innovation and entertainment. More than just a race venue, it’s a statement of intent. A visually stunning, technologically ambitious location that sets the tone for a new era of motorsport. We are proud to showcase the power of hydrogen and sustainable technology.”

Mohammed Ben Sulayem, President of the FIA, said, “As motorsport continues to grow worldwide, it is fantastic to see the inaugural Extreme H World Cup being hosted in Qiddiya City, Saudi Arabia.

“The hydrogen-powered event will use advanced technology to push the boundaries of sustainable racing, pioneering a new vision in a location which shares our commitment to a more sustainable and innovative future.”
