Pat Symonds, one of the men who conspired the crashgate scandal in 2008, is returning to Formula One, despite being banned until 2013.

He was part of the Renault F1 team who ordered Nelson Piquet, Jr. to crash deliberately during the Singapore Grand Prix, in order to gain a sporting advantage for his Renault team-mate Fernando Alonso.

Media reports however, suggest that Symond’s company Neutrino Dynamics was engaged in consultancy work last year, and have also revealed that he will be working with the Virgin team in 2011.

After the scandal Symonds, along with colleague Flavio Britore, was banned from having an ‘operational role’ but is believed to have been hired as a consultant.

Virgin F1 team president, Graeme Lowdon said: ‘he’s allowed to do consultancy work through his company, I can only see positive things’.
