The Football Association’s (FA) has appointed Georgina Lewis, currently head of digital at Microsoft, as its new head of marketing.
Lewis is due to start at the Wembley-based football governing body on 27th February. Her new role will draw on the skills she has developed at Microsoft, where she was marketing manager and then head of social media before taking up her current role.
Her remit at The FA will cover the work currently undertaken by the organisation’s existing marketing, digital and customer relations teams.
The role became vacant after marketing director Russell James moved to a new role within The FA towards the end of 2016. The role has been held in the interim by Ed Coan, long-term consultant to The FA.
Lewis said: “I am thrilled to be joining The FA. The FA is an incredible brand that has meaning far beyond football in society. There has never been a better time to step into this role, with marketing possibilities and technological innovation giving us the opportunity to deliver an experience for and with our audiences they have never had before. I can’t wait to get started.”
