Optus Sport has acquired exclusive Australian rights to the FA Cup, after signing a four-year broadcast rights partnership that runs until 2028.
The deal also includes the Community Shield, and kicks off with this year’s edition of the match, which will see Manchester United face Manchester City on 10th August.
From November, fixtures from the 153-year-old knockout competition will air on Optus, as the network replaces Paramount from the upcoming season.
The partnership sees Optus bolster its football content offering that includes Premier League coverage, after the network signed a six-year rights renewal in 2021, which is worth AUS$600m (£315.6m) over its duration according ton the Sydney Morning Herald, and also expires in 2028.
Extended FA Cup highlights and match replays will be available for Optus subscribers throughout the new agreement.
Howard Rees, Head of Optus Sport, said, “The Emirates FA Cup is one of the most prestigious knockout cup competitions in world football and we are excited to unite the Emirates FA Cup and the FA Community Shield as part of the world’s best football on Optus Sport.”
