The FA has appointed Women’s Sports Group to exclusively consult on the distribution of UK media rights for the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.

The new round of media rights sales will be for the 2021/22 season onwards, and will include all FA-controlled women’s club and national team fixtures. The cycle comes at a time when women’s football exposure as well as participation levels are increasing.

Founded by Dame Heather Rabbatts, Chair of strategic communications agency Vero Communications, and media rights consultant David Kogan, Women’s Sports Group was formed in 2019 to create new opportunities to promote, enhance and empower women’s sport.

Rabbatts said of the its partnership with the FA: “The next round of media rights for women’s football is hugely important to the long-term success of the game.

“There has been great momentum within women’s football since last summer’s FIFA Women’s World Cup where over one billion views were recorded and we will be looking to build on this to further elevate the value of women’s sport.

“Women’s Sports Group is delighted to work with The FA as we jointly look to drive value in The Barclays FA Women’s Super League and women’s football more broadly.”

Meanwhile, Kogan will bring a wealth of experience in media rights negotiations, previously advising on rights sales for sporting properties such as the Premier League, EFL, Premiership Rugby, Six Nations and the NFL. He will lead on consulting The FA on the upcoming sales process.

Kelly Simmons, Director of the Women’s Professional Game, The FA, said: “Women’s Sports Group was created to drive even greater value in women’s sport and we feel they are in a perfect position to help us take The Barclays FA Women’s Super League to the next level.”
